Bogan museums

The Bogan Region in New South Wales is home to the Nyngan & District Museum, located in the 1883 Railway Station building at Railway Square, Nyngan. The museum showcases a wide variety of information, photographs, and artifacts reflecting the rich history of the region, including Aboriginal history, European settlement, mining development, railway and township growth, participation in World War conflicts, and a video of the 1990 flood in the Palais Theatrette.

In addition to these highlights, the museum houses artifacts and information on local service clubs, communication history, homewares, hospital and Red Cross, and education. The Nyngan Museum is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, and weekends from 10 am to 2 pm. Another point of interest in the Bogan Shire is the heritage-restored Railway Station in Nyngan, featuring displays of the area's history from 1835 to the present day, including an audio room where older residents' stories can be heard.

The Bogan Shire, situated in Western New South Wales, spans 14,610 square kilometers with a population of around 2,900. The region includes the villages of Hermidale, Coolabah, and Girilambone, with Nyngan serving as the Shire's administrative center.
