The Gannawarra Region in Victoria boasts several museums and historical societies that highlight the area's rich history and culture. Notable attractions for visitors include the General Gannawarra Library Service, offering resources on the history and genealogy of the Shire of Gannawarra, and the Cohuna & District Historical Society, dedicated to preserving the history of Cohuna and its surrounding district. The Barham-Koondrook Historical Society focuses on the history of Barham and Koondrook, providing insights into the local area's past, while the Kerang Family History Group is committed to researching and sharing family history in the Kerang area. The Border Flywheelers Heritage Museum showcases the region's agricultural and machinery history, with a focus on the Border area.
Aside from these museums, the Gannawarra Region also features several cemeteries that offer a glimpse into the area's history, including Cohuna Cemetery, Kerang Cemetery, Koondrook Cemetery, and Quambatook Cemetery. For those interested in natural diversity, Gunbower Island is a recommended destination, home to a variety of birds, fish, marsupials, and occasional platypus sightings. In 1856, scientist William Blandowski conducted an expedition to the Murray River, collaborating with local Indigenous people to collect numerous species of reptiles, birds, fish, and invertebrates, some of which had never been seen before by European eyes. Many of these specimens are now on display at the Melbourne Museum.
