Parks in Circular Head

Circular Head in far north-west Tasmania boasts stunning parks and recreational areas. One prominent site is Montagu Park Campground, managed by River Breeze Caravan and Cabin Park, offering a peaceful camping experience by the water with open camping spaces and visitor facilities.

Another key attraction is The Nut State Reserve, a remarkable geological formation rising from Bass Strait, overlooking the town of Stanley. The Nut, a remnant of an ancient volcano, is an iconic feature of Stanley's landscape. Visitors can ascend via a walking track or chairlift to enjoy sweeping views. At the summit, a scenic circuit walk allows exploration of the plateau.

Beyond its natural beauty, The Nut State Reserve holds cultural and historical significance. It safeguards the nationally endangered straw daisy and provides vital habitats for various bird species, including peregrine falcons and little penguins. The reserve also preserves significant Tasmanian Aboriginal and historical sites, reflecting deep cultural importance to past and present Aboriginal communities. Ongoing care and rehabilitation efforts have been in place since 1980, supported by teams like the Green Army, weed contractors, and the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service.
