Art Galleries in Tamworth Region

Tamworth Regional Gallery, established in 1919, is one of the oldest regional galleries in New South Wales, located in the heart of Tamworth's CBD on Peel Street. Housed in a modern, purpose-built facility constructed in 2004, the gallery offers a variety of exhibitions and events. The gallery's collection began with a donation of 100 paintings and works on paper from local artist Salvana and has since grown to include the Burdekin Collection, featuring European and Australian art, as well as works from innovative fibre textile artists.

The exhibition program at Tamworth Regional Gallery includes touring exhibitions of national significance, curated exhibitions of regional artists, and displays from the gallery's permanent collections. With two main exhibition spaces hosting changing exhibitions approximately every six weeks, visitors can engage with a vibrant and diverse range of artworks. The gallery also offers a wide program of public events, exhibition openings, artist talks, and workshops, making it a dynamic cultural hub.

In addition to its cultural offerings, Tamworth Regional Gallery provides amenities like free car parking at the rear of the building, ensuring accessibility for all visitors. The gallery shop further enhances the experience with a range of Australian-made or designed products, including earthenware ceramics. After exploring the gallery, visitors can complete their visit by enjoying a meal or a cup of coffee at one of the nearby cafes or restaurants in Tamworth's CBD.
