Description

Located in the peaceful town of Evans Head, Main Beach is a popular destination for beach-goers, particularly inexperienced surfers.

The beach enjoys protection from the large southeast swells that can be found on other beaches in the region, making it an ideal choice for those who want to learn to surf.

The river estuary that divides the town of Evans Head attracts an abundance of ocean wildlife, making it a great spot for fishing. Head out into the river itself, either by boat or from the beach, and enjoy the many fishing opportunities on offer. You can also explore the town's tiny boat harbour, home to the state's first prawn-fishing fleet, and an osprey's nest.

If you want to venture beyond the beach and the river, Evans Head is bordered by National Parks on three sides, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, wildlife watching, and bird spotting.

Evans Head is a year-round destination, with mild weather even in winter.

Evans Head Main Beach is located on the East Coast of Australia and is easily accessible by car, bus or plane. The nearest airport is Ballina Byron Gateway Airport, located around 40 minutes' drive from Evans Head. From there, you can rent a car and drive yourself or take a bus to Evans Head. If you're driving, the town can be reached via the Pacific Highway, and once you arrive, you can park your car at the town's largest caravan park and campground, which is located right on the waterfront.
