Boombana Mt Nebo Walk

Boombana Mt Nebo Walk in Brisbane is a perfect escape from the city, featuring lush and shaded rainforest with easy access to walking tracks.

It is nestled in the South D'Aguilar section of D'Aguilar National Park, approximately 29 kilometers from Brisbane City Centre. Access roads are sealed, and you can bring your 2WD vehicle. Boombana can be found by taking Mount Nebo Road (tourist route number 8) to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre from the Brisbane suburb of The Gap.

In Boombana, you can weave beneath twisted vines and strangler figs as you take a stroll through the forest on the Pitta Circuit or Thylogale walking track. Look out for brightly-coloured wompoo fruit-doves feeding on forest fruits, and red-necked pademelons venturing from their rainforest hideaway. Witness lacebark trees bursting with beautiful pink-hued flowers in summer, which gives the area its name ('trees in bloom'). The circuit is ideal for families with younger children (not in strollers) and the fitness-challenged. The gently sloping one-kilometer walk starts at the picnic tables past the car park and after a brief stint in a fragrant open eucalypt forest submerges into the dappled light of the cool damp rainforest.

The Thylogale Walking Track is approximately eight kilometers preturn (approx four hours) and is ideally walked in spring when the native wisteria vines drop their miniature purple and white flowers onto the forest floor.
