Juniper is a producer of premium wines in Wilyabrup, Margaret River, the heart of the remote, environmentally pristine winegrowing area lying in the south-west corner of Western Australia, 270km south of Perth. The maritime influence, ancient soils and beautiful landscape are perfectly suited to the production of great wines. The Juniper ‘Estate’ vineyard (formerly Wright’s) was planted in 1973 and is one of the founding vineyards of the region. The original vineyard block was created through subdivision by the well-known Western Australian artist family, the Junipers, after whom it is now named. Juniper was established by the late Roger Hill and his wife Gillian Anderson and is a family owned and run operation. The original vineyard is dry-grown to this day, and fruit supply has been supplemented with the establishment of another vineyard in Metricup slightly to the north and a property in the Forest Grove region of Southern Margaret River. The vineyards are farmed sustainably following organic principles, such as the application of teas, manure, compost and mulches, and the use of predatory insects. Juniper is best known for its flagship Cabernet and Chardonnay wines.
