Tuhawaiki Point (Jack's) Lighthouse

Tuhawaiki Point Lighthouse, also known as Jack's Point Lighthouse, is a historic lighthouse located near Timaru on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island.

The lighthouse stands at Jack's Point, approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) south of Timaru, and can be reached via New Zealand State Highway 1 from the small settlement of Scarborough. The lighthouse is named after the Maori chief Hone (Jack) Tuhawaiki, who belonged to the Ngai-Tahu-tribe.

The lighthouse is an octagonal tower with a balcony and lantern, standing at a height of 9 meters (30 feet). The tower is constructed of cast iron and was first installed in 1866 at Timaru harbor to replace the insufficient beacon. It was later moved to its current location in 1903. The lighthouse was automated in 1930 and continues to operate to this day.
