Whether it’s to catch up with old friends or to let loose on a Saturday night, beer gardens are the perfect venue to socialise over a good pub feed and beers on tap. Check out the beer gardens that have opened in 2022 across Perth for that pint in the sunshine.

Victoria Park Hotel

Victoria Park

Standing strong since 1927, The Victoria Park Hotel located on Albany Highway has recently undergone a $2.3 million courtyard makeover. With the removal of their old pool hall and bottle shop, the hotel introduces an airy (and dog-friendly!) new beer garden dubbed ‘The Park’. Fill up on their pub classics infused with Brazilian-inspired flavours courtesy of Head Chef Andre Nunes, such as their Brazilian-style grilled tiger prawns with chimichurri, and wash it down with a beer on tap. Open 11am to 10pm between Monday to Thursday, 11am to 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11am to 11pm on Sundays.

Varsity

Morley

An extension of the Varsity Morley store on Rudloc Road, ‘The Backyard’ is a massive Texan-inspired outdoor venue and beer garden that opened in early September. The iconic American-themed burger and sports bar joint serves a variety of new menus on rotation with their permanent food trucks, introducing classics such as their birria tacos, crawfish boil, and BBQ-style eats (make sure to keep an eye out on the Varsity League app to score some exclusive deals!). Teaming up with the beer experts from Pirate Life, their beer truck makes for the perfect stop to wash down your feast. Open 11am to 10pm between Monday to Thursday, with hours extending to 12am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Bassendean Hotel

Bassendean

After a two-year $7 million renovation, the iconic Bassendean Hotel has reopened late September to reveal new family-friendly courtyards, playgrounds, a state-of-the-art sports bar and a beer garden. Increasing its capacity to 750 people, the venue features new spaces to suit any occasion, whether it be an easy-going lunch with the family or an evening birthday celebration. Paying respects to its original architecture and history, the hotel has revamped itself with six new bars and two kitchens, including an extra room for woodfired ovens, so be on the lookout for their woodfired pizzas while you treat yourself to a pint! You can visit the Bassendean Hotel from 11am to 10pm between Sunday to Thursday, and 11am to 12am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Beaufort

Highgate

A $10 million project that involved reviving an old warehouse from the 1950s is now recognised as Highgate’s new multi-storey venue, The Beaufort. The bar is made up of different spaces offering their own unique experience, including an array of trendy beer gardens and outdoor terraces. Perth is in for a treat as The Beaufort offers the largest spirit lists in the city – from Japanese Roku Gin to Scottish Macallan Whiskey. This is the perfect spot for large groups as The Beaufort also has a unique share-style menu from their Lotus restaurant which explores modern Southeast Asian flavours. The Beaufort is open every day, 11am to 12am.

Ruinbar

Perth CBD

Inspired by the ruin bars of Budapest and Eastern Europe, Ruinbar has become one of Beaufort Street's hidden gems since its opening in January. With three dedicated beer rooms and a spacious courtyard, the bar plays host to 18 taps reserved for WA-made house beers, serving a mix of Australian independent and mainstream beers on steady rotation. Ruinbar is inclusive of every taste, with two taps reserved for two special cocktails – an Aperol spritz and a Paloma – alongside packaged beers, wines, spirits and ciders. The bar’s courtyard has food trucks parked every weekend, however, we recommend popping over to its sister venue, Pretty Good Pizza, to enjoy a hot slice of pizza with your pint. Ruinbar is open from 3pm to 12am on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12pm to 12am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12pm to 11pm on Sundays.
