New binge-worthy releases on Netflix and Stan

Facing months of self-isolation, streaming services may be the only thing left to hold it all together. It’s time to become better acquainted with our new friends, Netflix and Stan. 

Here’s some exciting new releases coming out in the next week:

Released March 26 on Netflix
Based on the best-selling memoir by Deborah Feldman, this mini-series is about an American Hasidic Jewish woman who escapes an arranged marriage and flees to Europe. This is the first Netflix original to include Yiddish as one of its forefront languages, so extra care has been taken to portray their culture with accuracy.

Leavenworth: Season 1

Released March 26 on Stan
A docuseries about an ex-US Army Officer sentenced to 19 years in prison for murder after an incident whilst serving in Afghanistan. From executive producer Steven Soderbergh (Oceans Eleven) comes a story of seeking the truth in the anything but black and white US military justice system. If you’re a lover of true crime, this is one to mark in your diary.

Ozark: Season 3

Released March 27 on Netflix
After an 18-month wait, the highly anticipated third season of Ozark is coming to Netflix this Friday! Tune in to see what dark paths the Byrde’s take.

Hidden: Season 2

Released Mar 27 on Stan
After glowing reviews of its first season premiering in 2018, Stan is finally delivering season 2! With the first season of this crime-drama following the police investigation after the body of a young woman is found in a lake, the second season focuses on a new, but eerily similar case.

Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj (Volume 6)

Released March 29 on Netflix
Releasing its sixth instalment, this Emmy award winning series is a comedic talk show with a twist, delving into cultural and societal issues, rather than the political satire we tend to be overwhelmed with these days. With Time magazine naming the host, Hasan Minhaj as one of the top 100 most influential people in the world, this is guaranteed to be a home run.

4 Louis Theroux Documentaries

Released March 29 on Stan
The king of socially awkward encounters and BAFTA award winner Louis Theroux is back with a series of documentaries equal parts devastating and morbidly fascinating. Exploring topics such as heroin addiction, sex trafficking, murder and anorexia, Louis is a calming and non-judgemental voice interviewing (at times) difficult people, surrounding even more difficult and gloomy themes.
