For something a little different, Fremantle Prison offers a combination of fascinating history and function spaces that tell their own story.

Built by convicts in the 1850s and decommissioned as an operational maximum security jail in 1991, Fremantle Prison, originally known as the Convict Establishment, is the largest convict-built structure in Western Australia; the most intact convict establishment in the nation, and Western Australia's only World Heritage-listed building. Fremantle Prison provides an ideal venue for those seeking a unique, historic location for their function or event.

The Main Cell Block is a stunning building, constructed from limestone, standing four storeys high and divided into four cell divisions. Large double doors between each division mean the Main Cell Block can be customised to suit the size of group and event, to a maximum of 500 people.

With two stylish underground rooms surrounded by thick limestone walls, the Commissariat is atmospheric and provides an ideal space for cocktail parties for up to 50 people.

Originally built for inmate activity and training unskilled prisoners, the East Workshops, with its industrial look, is the perfect space for presentations, awards nights and formal dinners for up to 300 people.

Able to accommodate up to 25 people, the Special Handling Unit provides a great alternative area for meetings and team-building activities. The Crown Theatre (complete with stage) is attached to the Main Cell Block, can accommodate 104 people, and is suited to performances, presentations and launches.

At the commencement of your function, you may wish to partake in pre-dinner drinks and canapes in the Gatehouse or Parade Ground. And for those looking to create a dramatic atmosphere and mood for their guests, a Prison Highlights tours can also be arranged.
