Perth Festival kicked off on Feb 7, opening the doors to a shiny new venue, Chevron Lighthouse, which has already hosted some major international artists.

The funky new outdoor venue features a bar made up of colourful milk crates, a smaller stage to the side for local entertainers and a brightly lit main stage facing the stairs up to Perth Concert Hall. This year’s music programme showcases the perfect mix of highly anticipated headliners and undiscovered indie gems. With tickets selling fast for top acts, we’ve chosen seven unique gigs that provide ample reason for you to check out the new venue.

Weyes Blood

Often called the “millennial Joni Mitchell”, it’s easy to see the resemblance between the late folk legend and American indie songwriter Weyes Blood. Progressive yet understated, Weyes Blood dishes up an intoxicating blend of past and present, with raw emotion and acoustic balladry blending seamlessly with the electric pop and synth of today – the result is an unmistakable sound that begs to be heard.

With their 2018 debut album Hope Downs receiving critical acclaim, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever is sure to be nothing but a good time.

Moon Duo

San Francisco rock band Moon Duo are known for their psychedelic music and image, and their recent North American tour has proved that they can pull off a truly psychedelic live show a la Pink Floyd and Massive Attack. Bringing with them an arsenal of lights and spectacular effects, Moon Duo’s visuals are helmed by visual projection artist Emmanuel Biard, who manages to perfectly match the band’s hazy, dream-like vibe.
