Last week, The Morris Hotel proved that it’s not just any old spot—it’s now the place to be in Perth. If you’ve got fond memories of The Saint, you’ll be thrilled to see how this Perth icon has been transformed after a massive $3 million renovation. Trust me, it’s not just the name that’s changed back to its 1950s roots—everything about this place has been taken up a notch.

A Fresh New Look

Stepping inside, you’ll notice that The Morris has kept the welcoming atmosphere we all love but has dialed up the style. The once-familiar exterior has been jazzed up, and the interior now combines contemporary flair with a nod to its heritage. A few friends I told about the relaunch were genuinely surprised to hear that the old Saint has become a nice swanky spot—but it’s still the same great place for a drink over the game or a laid-back family meal.

Food and Drink

The opening night featured a fantastic spread. Fresh oysters were a standout, and if seafood’s your thing, you’re in for a treat. The spread also boasted truffle arancini and spiced lamb skewers that had everyone going back for more. And let’s not forget the cheese platters—my attempts to not continually graze were totally in vain.

the menu—curated by ALH WA Executive Chef Wendy Miedzinski—showed off what this place is all about now: elevated pub classics with a focus on local produce. They’ve got beef from Dardanup, swordfish from Rottnest, and snapper from Exmouth—all crafted into dishes that let the flavours speak for themselves.

As for drinks, the bar was in full swing. With 24 taps pouring everything from local brews to crafted cocktails, you’re spoilt for choice. I had a gin and elderflower cocktail that hit just right, but if you’re after something a bit lighter, their new low-calorie margarita is perfect for those balmy Perth evenings.

The Vibe

The atmosphere on opening night was buzzing, with a live DJ and a saxophonist setting the mood. The gorgeous staff made sure we were all well fed and topped up, despite how many times I startled them with my camera.

The Morris now holds up to 1,500 people across four distinct spaces, each with its own personality. If you haven’t been to The Morris since its makeover, it’s time to pay a visit. It’s a new favourite hangout spot that blends style with the laid-back charm you remember. Whether you’re up for a casual night out, a special occasion, or just looking for a great place to unwind

So next time you’re planning a night out, make sure The Morris is on your list. You might just find it’s the new go-to spot for a great time.
