For one weekend only, be seduced by the language of Jazz at the 2018 Perth International Jazz Festival in the heart of the Perth Cultural Centre. Attracting local and international jazz artists for over 60 performances, the festival offers a variety of open rehearsals, live performances and intimate ‘in conversations’ via ticketed and free community events.

Established in 2012, the Festival is the brain-child of (the late) Associate Professor Graham Wood. The purpose of the PIFJ is to promote jazz to the wider community by bringing inspiring music by talented musicians from around the world to Perth, and present creative programs in an accessible and vibrant way.

Types of events/performances

Open Rehearsals - The opportunity for audiences to observe the inner workings of collaborative rehearsals between local and visiting artists to produce a festival performance.

Artist In Conversation - Informal conversations with visiting guest artists with a local artist mediator. There will be the opportunity for audiences to participate in Q&A with the artists.

Jazz Club Choir - Renowned local jazz vocalist Libby Hammer will work with anyone who wants to sing, creating a community jazz choir especially for the festival period and culminating in a festival performance.
